EFA is pleased to launch a new public conversation series inviting guest curators to develop thematic groupings of EFA Studio Member artists.

The inaugural program is moderated by Cassie Packard—New York-based art writer, reviews editor at frieze, author of Art Rules (2023), and recipient of the 2024 Rabkin Prize for art writing—Technologies of Resistance brings together Laura Anderson Barbata, Wafaa Bilal, and Jan Mun to explore how contemporary artists engage questions of resistance, care, accessibility, collaboration, and collective repair.

Cassie Packard is a New York–based art writer and critic. She is the reviews editor at frieze and the author of Art Rules (2023). Her writing focuses on contemporary art, politics, and culture, and she is the recipient of the 2024 Rabkin Prize for art writing.

Laura Anderson Barbata is a transdisciplinary artist whose work spans performance, social practice, textiles, and community collaboration. Her projects often engage issues of migration, environmental justice, and cultural identity, working closely with artisan and activist communities across the Americas.

Wafaa Bilal is an Iraqi-American artist known for his provocative, technology-driven performances and installations. His work addresses war, trauma, surveillance, and the politics of representation, often drawing from his personal experiences of conflict and displacement.

Jan Mun is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores identity, language, and systems of communication. Through performance, installation, and text-based work, Mun examines how meaning is constructed and negotiated within social and cultural frameworks.
