Armando Cortés
Armando Cortés (B. 1989, Urequio, Michoacán, Mexico) received a BA from UCLA, 2012 and a MFA from Yale School of Art, 2021. He is active in New York as well as Los Angeles. He has exhibited at Jenkins Johnson Projects (Brooklyn, NY), MassMOCA (North Adams, MA), Space One (Seoul, Korea), ASU Art Museum (Tempe, AZ), Visitor Welcome Center (Los Angeles, CA), Craft Contemporary (Los Angeles, CA), The Shed (New York, NY), and SubtitledNYC (Brooklyn, NY), amongst others. He was a Franklin Furnace Fellow (2021-2022), was the Saint Elmo Artist in Residence and Fellow at UT Austin (2021-2022). Recent residencies include STAR Residency, Tiger Strikes Asteroid (NY, 2022) Field Projects Artist in Residence (NY, 2023) and Bemis Center residency (Omaha, NE 2023). He is a NYSCA and Brooklyn Arts Council recipient for 2025.
