Cui Fei was born in Jinan, China. She received her MFA at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and BFA from China Academy of Art.

Cui’s work has been exhibited nationally and internationally at venues such as the Museum of Arts and Design, Princeton University Art Museum, Museum of Chinese in American, Queens Museum, Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, New Britain Museum of American Art, Wave Hill, Bronx Museum of Arts Kunstgewerbe Museum, Dresden, Germany; and Jeju Museum of Art, Jeju, Korea, among others. In 2010, she had her first solo museum show at the Warehouse Gallery at Syracuse University.

She is a recipient of the Pollock-Krasner Grant, the Artist’s Fellowship from NYFA, Emerging Artist Fellowship from Socrates Sculpture Park, and the Excellence in Arts Award from Bronx Council on the Arts.  She was selected for the Art Omi International Artists Residency, the Artist-in-Residence Program at Light Work, the Emerge Program, Aljira & Creative Capital; and the AIM program at the Bronx Museum of the Arts. Her work is included in the permanent collections of the Princeton University Art Museum; The Tang Center for East Asian Art at Princeton University, and Light Work.
